.Hearing aids or cochlear implants are not a replacement for natural hearing. Hence, people with hearing loss may or may not be able to rely on audio alone (for example, talking over a phone) for communicating. For this reason, they need closed captioning or subtitles to completely follow TV programmes or movies playing in a theatre.
.It can be difficult for children with hearing loss to learn more than one language. So, if the child cannot converse fluently in their mother tongue, don’t assume that the child is not interested in learning the mother tongue.
.The speech clarity of a person with hearing loss varies between individuals, and depends on various factors such as the degree of hearing loss, the quality of the hearing device they use, and the quality of training they received in their early years.
.While in groups, when many people talk simultaneously, it becomes difficult for a person with hearing loss to follow all of them. One should not assume that the person is not interested in group activities.
.Superstitious belief: Hearing loss is not because of some sins committed in previous life
